USA, Venezuela 2026, and Panama 1989: Striking Astrology Parallels
Well, 2026 has sure started with a geopolitical bang: military action by the USA in Venezuela. On January 3rd, 2026, Nicolás Maduro - the president of Venezuela - was taken by the US forces and transported to the USA to face narco-terrorism charges.
What struck me about this was the uncanny parallel between the astrology of this event, and the USA military action in Panama in 1989. The purpose was to depose the ruler of Panama, dictator General Noriega. The big part of the rationale was drug trafficking. Sound familiar?
But, this time is different...it's not just about Venezuela. We're experiencing a major geopolitical shift.
Saturn-Neptune Conjunction
In 1989, just as in 2026, Saturn and Neptune came together in a conjunction. This planetary signature, that repeats every 36 years, has historically signaled a significant geopolitical shift. The USA and Russa/former Soviet Union, in particular, seem to resonate very strongly with its energy.
In 1989, Saturn and Neptune were forming an opposition to the planets in the 7th House of the USA - the House that deals with international relations.
In 2026, they are forming a square to the 7th House of the USA - another challenging aspect. And the 7th House in a chart of a country deals with international relations, allies, enemies, treaties - and war.
Eclipses in Pisces and Virgo
In 1989, just as in 2026, eclipses were in Pisces and Virgo, starting to cross into Aquarius and Leo. And, if you read my posts regularly, then you know that drugs and oil are two of the areas that can experience shake-ups when the eclipses are in Pisces.
Jupiter in Cancer
At the time of Panama invasion (1989) Jupiter was travelling through Cancer, through the 7th House of the USA. Jupiter is currently in Cancer as well, but retrograding from the 8th house of the USA into the 7th House.
Aren't the parallels incredible?
Other Astro-Thoughts:
On January 3 - the day of the military operation in Venezuela - the Sun, Mars and Venus, all conjunct, were in opposition to the Moon (Full Moon). What's more, this powerful Full Moon fell directly onto the Sun in the 7th House of the USA's natal chart. The Full Moon was at 13°02′ Cancer, and the USA's natal Sun is at 13°19' Cancer.
This indicates hidden developments around international relationships, treaties or war (7th House matters) coming to light (the Full Moon).
In mundane astrology (astrology of world events), the Sun represents the leader of the country/people in the position of power or authority.
Venus-Mars conjunctions, in particular, can fire up passion to fight for something, or to take something you want by force. And so they can bring an onset of military action. An extended Venus-Mars conjunction was active at the time Russia started military action in the Ukraine.
The Full Moon is always about visibility, and it can also be about polarization, so that's definitely playing out.
So, What's Next?
In January 2026, Venus, Mercury, Mars and the Sun are all travelling very close together, bringing a surge of energy. They are currently opposed by Jupiter - jubilant, quick action that can later bring unintended consequences.
Several impactful transits of 2026 all activate the chart of the USA in a big way, as they did in 2025. So 2026 is going to be another impactful year.
But, it's much more than USA-Venezuela. In the background, a tectonic shift is happening: the Saturn-Neptune conjunction is building so close to the IC of the USA. And that's the point that represents the nation's identity, so the impacts of 2025-2026 will be big and far-reaching.
The magnitude of the shift can reshape the world in a significant way, so it's larger than the USA. But, if you've been reading my posts for a while, then you know I first started predicting deglobalization in 2023...
The upcoming eclipse on February 17 is quite impactful for the USA - and Trump's natal chart. And so is Uranus squaring the Nodes (fated events) in mid-June. There may be more shake-ups and high profile legal cases coming up.
The country's leadership can start coming under increased pressure, too, especially in the second half of 2026. And, heading into 2027, national income, the economy, banks, government debt, government assistance and taxes can all start going through shake-ups. And that includes the status of the USD as the world's reserve currency,
