Eclipses in Aries-Libra 2023-2025

Eclipses are wild cards in astrology.  They tend to electrify and shake up the areas they touch.

That plays out on the collective level as well as on a personal level, if an eclipse connects with your natal chart.

The thing is, it’s difficult to predict exactly HOW the energy of the eclipse will affect the world, a particular country - or you.  Things can swing in either direction.  But, the astrological sign of an eclipse provides many helpful clues. (And in your own natal chart, the House the eclipse falls into, and the planets it connects with).

This post is about the impact of the eclipses on us as the collective.

Eclipses come in pairs, happening in the opposite signs of the Zodiac - the signs the Lunar nodes are travelling through.  They coincide with the new and full moons, as solar and lunar eclipses, respectively.

Let's Look Back for a Second:

In 2022, the eclipses moved through Taurus and Scorpio, electrifying (and what feels like decimating) stock markets, unsettling food supplies, and intensifying extreme weather patterns around the globe.

When the nodal axis is in Taurus-Scorpio, eclipses can bring or end an epidemic.  In this case, it was the end of the global COVID pandemic (phew!!)

Scorpio eclipses, in particular can also bring big and unexpected developments around the use of the nuclear industry - I wrote about that soon after the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, and oh my goodness, there were parts of 2022 when I was sweating bullets.

What's Next?

The nodal axis moves into Aries-Libra on July 17 2023.  Pay attention to what the eclipse on April 19/20 (in Aries) brings, because we’ll be living with the Aries-Libra eclipses until May 2025!

While, technically speaking, the node will still in Taurus, it's conjunct the Sun at 29° Aries on the day of the eclipse.

I find that the first eclipse in the series often foreshadows the themes that the Cosmos will forcefully bring into our awareness over the next 18-24 months.

So which new areas can experience shake-ups between now and 2025?

Military Action, Ceasefire, Alliances and Treaties

Eclipses in Aries can bring a sudden start or end of military action, and eclipses in Libra can bring new and unexpected alliances and treaties.

Eclipses in Aries in particular are fast-acting. We might start feeling their effects a few weeks before the eclipse.  Having said that, full impacts of a Solar Eclipse generally unfold over a year (for a Lunar Eclipse, it’s 6 months).

Obviously we’re hoping for a peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine war!! But, the astrology of these two countries shows that it might not happen until 2024….I certainly hope peace will come before that.

There may be new international alliances or power blocks forming, and international relations can go through some wild swings or unexpected changes this year.

Leaders might rise or fall.  New leaders can unexpectedly come to power.

Much depends on how an eclipse interacts with the natal chart of a country (and much like people, countries have their own natal charts).

Fires and Speed

Eclipses in Aries can bring extended stretches of dry, hot weather, resulting in fires. Be particularly careful with fire hazards around the time of the eclipse, and watch out for speeding drivers! And don’t speed yourself.

And, be careful around firearms.

New Discoveries

Aries eclipses, in particular, can usher in new discoveries and new, bold beginnings. It’s an explorer’s eclipse!

Legislation, Laws and Elections

Eclipses in Libra can bring some surprises around legislation, laws and elections. They can also indicate labour disputes (such as strike action), or polarizing debates and protests over the issues of fairness.

Gender Identity and Gender Relations:

As a parent, I follow a number of parenting accounts on social media.  And my oh my, was there ever a polarizing debate just recently about the use of gender pronouns and gender-neutral terms (such as, “friends” instead of boys and girls).

Gender pronouns have already been added to email signatures at work, social media profiles, and many other channels.

There could be some unexpected developments or polarizing debates around gender identity and gender relations though.

Identity and Personal Relationships:

For most of us, this is a big one.

Aries eclipses are a fantastic time to redefine your own identity, especially if you feel like you need to take more charge of your life!

But remember, eclipses happen on an axis, alternating between two signs that are the opposite of each other on the Zodiac wheel, but that also have something in common.

With Aries and Libra, it’s about balancing the need for assertiveness and compromise.  Finding the optimal balance between your needs and the needs of your partner.

Eclipses can disrupt the delicate balance in your relationship, so if your relationship is on the rocks, tread carefully during Libra eclipses.  Relationship issues might come to a head.

Contracts and alliances of all kinds can be unstable if signed around the time of an eclipse in Libra.

Eclipse Dates:

If you have your Sun, personal planets or angles (Ascendant, Descendant, MC or IC) within 2 degrees of an eclipse, that eclipse can bring a very important year for you personally.  If that's you, you will be interested in this post.
