Astrology Forecast for September 2026

All dates and times provided are for Pacific to Eastern time.

Overview of September

September is a welcome relief after the intense eclipse season we just had. It's a much calmer month astrologically. Mercury is strongly highlighted, making some fantastic planetary connections. There are many good days for presentations, negotiations, contracts, brainstorming and - on a slightly different note but still related to Mercury -  cognitive therapy. 

Take full advantage of these periods, because Mercury is going to go retrograde on October 24. And here is another not-so-fun heads-up 😕: Venus will turn retrograde on October 3. October 3-November 13 is not the greatest timeframe for proposals, starting a beauty-oriented business, or cosmetic surgery. And the stock market tends to be more volatile when Venus is retrograde, too.  

In other words, enjoy the nice astro-weather while it lasts in September!

• Venus => Scorpio (September 10)
• Mercury => Libra (September 10)
  
• Sun => Libra (September 22)
• Mars => Leo (September 27)
• Mercury => Scorpio (September 30).

Jupiter-Saturn Trines

Ahhh this is such a lovely feature of 2026-2027. 

Jupiter, now in Leo, will be making a series of supportive trines to Saturn in Aries, in 2026–2027. If this trine aligns with your natal chart, it can be so much more beneficial than a Jupiter transit on its own!

Jupiter brings opportunities, but they don't always deliver — Saturn, on the other hand, turns them into reality.

The first trine is active from August 14 to September 22.  It was at its peak — most powerful — on August 31, at 13° Aries/Leo.

September 1-6:

The month starts with a frustrating Mars-Saturn square on Sept. 1.  The first half of the week can feel like you're driving with the brakes on. Avoid confrontation and competition - you may find yourself in a lose-lose situation.

On the plus side, a helpful Mercury-Mars sextile, also on Sept. 1, helps with presentations, negotiations and contracts. 

An Opportunity Period arrives just in time for the weekend:  Sept. 4, 2:29 p.m. to Sept. 5, 1:40 a.m. PDT. It's particularly good for writing, communication, and socializing. 

If you're new to Opportunity Periods, think of them as electional astrology "lite". They are windows when the Moon makes only positive aspects before entering a new sign or going void of course.

Opportunity Periods aid your undertakings.  They are universal — they apply to everyone, but make sure you've converted them to your time zone.

September 7-13:

The Moon is Balsamic from Sept. 7 8:27 p.m. to Sept. 10, 8:27 p.m. PDT.  It's an inauspicious time for new beginnings, but you know what it's great for? Tying up loose ends, and — my favourite — some digital or physical decluttering.

There is another Opportunity Period this week - Sept. 8, 11:37 a.m. to Sept. 9, 11:58 a.m. PDT.  It's perfect for wrapping up projects and also, for fun and creativity.  Take your inner child out for something satisfyingly silly!

Sept. 10 is an action-packed day — a lot lands at once. Uranus turns retrograde, the New Moon in Virgo arrives at 8:27 p.m. PDT, Mercury moves into Libra, and Venus enters Scorpio!

Don't forget to set your intentions on this New Moon, especially if you're working on your health, weight control, healthy lifestyle changes, a fitness routine that sticks, efficiency, and staying organized.

On Sept. 12, there is a Grand Trine in Air — Moon and Mercury in Libra, Pluto in Aquarius, Uranus in Gemini, completed into a Kite by an opposition from Neptune.

Oops I think I got a little carried away with all the astro-jargon there 😆 The key thing to know is this.  Sept. 12 is fantastic for (1) networking, socializing, relationship-building, and (2) Mercury-related pursuits, such as writing, blogging, presentations and - on a different note - cognitive therapy and coaching sessions. Deep breakthroughs are possible.

September 14-20:

Sept. 14 is an industrious day when you can get a lot done, helped by the Sun-Mars sextile. It's particularly good for career and business matters.

Sept. 15 brings yet another Opportunity Period, from 7:36 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. PDT.  It supports many types of undertakings EXCEPT for love and finances - there is a Venus-Pluto square in the skies.  Stay out of power games in relationships. Sept. 14–15 are also not ideal for a first date. 

Meanwhile, there is Mercury-Saturn opposition building.  Sept. 17-18 are not the greatest days for negotiations, contracts, and presentations, or to start an e-commerce business. Save it for next week! As well, words can be cutting under this planetary energy - stay kind. 

September 21-30:

This is the most eventful stretch of the month astrologically — a lot is happening, and most of it is very good news.

Mercury troubles don't last.  On Sept. 21, we're treated to a Mercury-Jupiter sextile.  Now, that's supportive of negotiations, contracts and presentations.  Or better yet, if your time zone allows, save them for Sept. 22. 

That's when a fantastic but brief Opportunity Period arrives, from Sept. 22, 9:47 p.m. to Sept. 23, 1:18 a.m. PDT.  It's very helpful for starting new projects, networking, buying or selling, or connecting with others. That includes listing an item for sale — it doesn't have to happen in person.

The Moon spends the day in Pisces on Sept. 24, supporting spiritual and creative pursuits. Work on your art. Meditate. Connect with the Divine. Book a Tarot reading.

On Sept. 25-28, something spectacular happens.  There is a powerful Grand Trine in Air between the Sun, Pluto and Uranus, enhanced by the Full Moon in Aries on Sept. 26.  If your birthday is between Sept. 22-Oct. 2, this powerhouse of energy will be locked in your Solar Return chart.  The next 12 months can bring incredible breakthroughs and big, beneficial changes. 

To cap the week, Mars enters Leo on Sept. 27. Expect a shift in energy — bolder, warmer, more confident. This is a great transit for creative pursuits, leadership moves, and anything that benefits from a little extra flair.

The month ends with Mercury moving into Scorpio on Sept. 30, and yet another (!) auspicious Opportunity Period, from Sept. 30, 7:43 p.m. to Oct. 1 7:42 p.m. PDT.  It's fantastic for networking, everything related to communication (bloggers and writers, pay attention), and for socializing.
