Uranus in Gemini: 2025-2033

Note: This post was first published in July 2025.  I've updated it to reflect the war in Iran, and the section "What Does It Mean for You, Personally?" to reflect the astrology of 2026.

2025-2026 are the years of major planetary shifts.  Three heavyweights - Saturn, Neptune and Uranus - all change signs.  Because it takes each planet a different period of time to orbit the Sun, this is a rare event:  an extraordinary and disruptive moment for the collective, yet full of potential.

We're most definitely feeling the shift on the global level, and many of us on a personal level, too.

First, the Dates:

It takes Uranus 7 years to transit a sign, and it usually retrogrades into the previous sign and dips into the next sign on the way.

This is what Uranus is up to:

• July 7 - November 7, 2025:  Uranus is in Gemini
  • Uranus covered 0-1° Gemini in 2025
• November 7, 2025 - April 25, 2026:  Uranus retrogrades into Taurus
• April 25, 2026 - August 3, 2032:  Uranus back in Gemini
• August 3 - December 12, 2032:  Uranus is in Cancer
• December 12, 2032 - May 22, 2033:  Uranus retrogrades into Gemini

What is Uranus All About?

This is not an exhaustive post on Uranus, but here are some key themes:

Change:

First of all, Uranus is about change! And not just incremental change, but something that feels like a qualitative leap. It's not about making tweaks  - it's about taking things to a new level, that used to be in the realm of science fiction decades ago 🙂

Uranus doesn't care that we human beings value our routines.  If you ever worked in the field of change management, you know that the first roadblock to change is our own resistance!

If you're an early adopter - someone who can't wait to get the newest technology gadget out there - chances are, Uranus may be strong in your natal chart, and you resonate with its energy.  You find it electrifying.

But, it can also feel erratic.  When we're in a grip of a powerful Uranus transit, we might feel that our heads are spinning and we can't keep up.  This is true for individuals - and for the world.

Freedom and Independence

Secondly, Uranus is about freedom and independence.  If something in your life has become too stale, a Uranus transit to your natal chart will attempt to break you out of the rut.

The same applies to world affairs.   "Enough!", we say when we get fed up with things, and stage a revolution - this is particularly true for Uranus in Gemini (more on that below).

The Unexpected

The energy of Uranus is neutral.  It's not a benefic (like Jupiter and Venus), but it's not a malefic, either.  Under a powerful Uranus transit, things can go either way:  there can be breakthroughs, but there can also be breakdowns.  The common theme?  Chances are, they will be unexpected.

Uranus in Taurus:  A Quick Look Back

Banking Digitalization and Cryptocurrencies

During its 7-year stay in Taurus, Uranus was revolutionizing banking and currencies.  Show of hands - how many of you have invested into cryptocurrencies in the last few years?

While bitcoin is not new, it's over the time Uranus was in Taurus that it became known to an average investor.  Uranus in Taurus brought the rise of cryptocurrencies.  In 2021, El Salvador even embraced bitcoin as legal tender, one of the two official currencies, together with the USD. It was rescinded in January 2025 - a few months before Uranus's entry into Gemini. 

Gig Economy

Uranus has also been revolutionizing the way we earn money.  While the gig economy started to take off in 2010, it was during the years Uranus travelled through Taurus that it became mainstream. 

According to Google, by 2025, over 70 million Americans identified as gig workers — 36% of the workforce.

I took Uber the other day and was talking to the driver, who has a couple of gig jobs, but doesn't see the value of permanent, full-time employment.  We can all have our opinions there, but was the word "gig economy" even in your vocabulary 8 years ago?  It wasn't in mine...

Uranus in Gemini:  Then and Now

The last time Uranus travelled through Gemini was in 1941-1945, so many of us will experience this transit for the first time in our lifetime.

And, let me tell you something else. Historically, Uranus in Gemini tends to bring a very eventful period for the planet. 

Gemini deals with the following areas:

• Communications
• Information and data
• Organizational systems
• Air travel
• Transportation and vehicles
• Social connections and social media
• Mobile devices
• Trade
• Freedom (including freedom of speech)

Some or all of these areas can get revolutionized - or experience shocks - in the next 7 years.

Uranus in Gemini and Innovation

Here are some examples of what transpired in the past, when Uranus was in Gemini: 

The first telephone devices were invented during the Uranus transit of Gemini in mid-1800s, while the last Uranus-in-Gemini period of 1942 to 1949 saw the golden ages of Hollywood and radio. 

Uranus is more comfortable in Gemini than it is in Taurus, and so the pace of change can pick up, compared to the past 7 years.  We can expect rapid change and disruption to the way we think and communicate, and how we get around, conduct trade and transport goods. 

Since Gemini is a dual sign, Uranus will drive the opposites to polarized positions.

Hopefully we can look to more technological advances and innovation during the current transit of Uranus in Gemini! Especially considering that Pluto is now in Aquarius, the sign Uranus rules. And that's another astrological marker of major technological advances. 

Uranus in Gemini and Social Unrest

Historically, when Uranus enters Gemini we see a lot of fighting and skirmishes, revolts and revolutions against established powers, or fights between neighbours or within territories, such as civil wars. 

Every time Uranus was in Gemini since the USA was formed, it went to war... You see, the 7th House in the chart of the USA rules wars as well as diplomatic relationships, and it's in Gemini. 

• The Declaration of Independence was signed when Uranus was in Gemini.
  
  
• 85 years later, the Civil War happened when Uranus was in Gemini again - and Neptune just entered Aries, as it's about to do now.  
  
  
• In 1941, World War II started.  Uranus was at 27° Taurus at the time, just about to enter Gemini, where it was for the next few years as the war raged.  And Neptune was at 29° Virgo, opposite of it's position in 2025-2026.

But, in 1941-1942 Saturn and Uranus were also conjunct, and it's a harsher planetary signature than what we will experience in 2025-2026.    Note that the next Saturn-Uranus conjunction is coming in 2032.

So far, 2025-2026 brought a trade war and the war in Iran... Hopefully that's where it stops. 

But I have to say, I was shaking my head at the talk of the USA taking over Greenland and annexing Canada, hot in the news in 2025 and early 2026! 

As they say, history doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes... 

Uranus in Gemini: Some Possibilities

The following list is from my webinar "Navigating 2026", and wow - a lot of this is already playing out!   (You can still register for the recorded webinar - there are more twists and turns heading our way in 2026!)

Remember,  astrology is about possibilities and probabilities.  Every sign and every planet represents several things or qualities in astrology.  

I don't think I've seen all of the themes associated with a sign playing out when a planet visits that sign, but quite a few do.

• It's possible that over the next 7-8 years, self-driving cars will become the norm.  Note that when the planet is about to enter the sign, there are always developments to the industry associated with that sign. In Uranus's case, there could be shocks - we've already seen it playing out for EVs! But, once Uranus settles into Gemini, all things EV could pick up again.  
  
  
• Air travel could go through a transformation, or experience some shocks.
  
  
• And, perhaps we can leap into space travel?
  
  
• Virtual reality can become mainstream in education and other fields.
  
  
• AI could continue evolving in leaps and bounds - and remember that Pluto is in Aquarius, too,  building on the same technology theme!  I think this one is a safe bet for a prediction 😉 The darker side of this is that AI is likely to become more sophisticated in terms of deep fakes, and the use of AI by scammers. 
  
  
• Smart tech could grow to the point when it starts feeling oppressive.  The feeling of being slaves to our electronic devices can intensify.  And the feeling of being tracked and monitored by our devices to collect big data, and wondering where and how it is used!  In the end, I wonder if the Uranus energy of revolt will start playing out against technology. 
  
  
• Gemini is also about communication and speech, and Uranus is about delivering shocks.  In my webinar "Navigating 2025", recorded in December 2024, I talked about potential shocks coming to the freedom of speech.  Now, this thought is scary....  

Uranus-Pluto Trines:  Big Stuff

A big and important feature of Uranus's transit of Gemini is that it will make several trines with Pluto in Aquarius.

Uranus trine Pluto occurs in a repeating cycle of every 105, 37, 74, and 37 years - because of Pluto's elliptic orbit. It has been 105 years since the last series in 1921-22. And the next series will be only 37 years from now, in 2063-65.

Uranus and Pluto came close to a trine in 2025, but, much like the Saturn-Neptune conjunction, it's 2026 when we experience the first exact trine between Uranus and Pluto. And then, we will have 5 repeating trines!

• July 18, 2026 - at 4°
• November 29, 2026 - at 3°
• June 15, 2027 - at 6°
• January 13, 2028 - at 6°
• May 9, 2028 - at 8°

During the Last Uranus-Pluto Trine...

The world experienced the last set of Uranus-Pluto trines just over a century ago, in 1921-23.  It brought significant political and geo-political changes, scientific advances, and the beginning of an incredible bull market of 1920s, that lasted until the crash in 1929:

• Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and Joseph Stalin came to power.
• The Chinese Communist Party, Spanish Communist Party,  and the National Fascist Party Italy were founded.
• The Soviet Union was officially established. 
• The Irish War of Independence ended with a truce.
• Revolutions in Greece, Turkey, and elsewhere.
• Discovery of the hormone insulin.
• First public radio broadcasts.
• Modern auto and airline industries were born.
• The stock market started booming - it was the start of the Roaring 20s.

So between 2026-28, we can expect some radical social, political, and economic change and perhaps new global leaders.

Now, What Does It Mean for You, Personally?

A Uranus-Pluto trine can bring incredible breakthroughs if it connects with your natal chart! I share some real-life examples and how to work with this energy in my course, "Navigating 2026".

This year, you should pay attention to this trine if you have planets or Angles (Ascendant, Descendant, MC or IC) in the following signs and degrees:

• 29° Taurus - 9° Gemini (conjunct Uranus, trine Pluto)
• 29° Virgo - 9° Libra (Uranus and Pluto form a Grand Trine to your planets)
• 29° Capricorn - 9° Aquarius (conjunct Pluto, trine Uranus)
