Your Money Strengths, Planet by Planet: A 2nd House Guide
As I write this, Venus is about to turn retrograde, and the internet is abuzz with talk of exes coming back and healing your blocks to love.
Venus isn't just about love though. 💰 Venus rules both love AND finances, so whenever Venus is in the spotlight, like during a Venus Retrograde, it's an excellent time to review your relationship with money.
Get out your birth chart and take a look at your 2nd House of Personal Income—one of the traditional Money Houses.
The other money houses are the 5th and 8th House, but your 10th and 11th houses can be important too. But for this post, let's focus on your 2nd House. It shows the gifts you bring to building wealth, and the lessons you may encounter along the way.
Ask yourself: Are you leveraging the strengths of your 2nd House?
Look for planets in the 2nd House, or the sign on its cusp. Here's a quick guide:
🌞 Sun / Leo:
Your financial strength comes from putting yourself at the center of what you do. Be visible. Take the lead. Get paid for your expertise rather than hiding behind the scenes.
Raise your rates when your visibility goes up. Being seen should show up in what you charge. Keep a "wins file" of testimonials and results so you're ready to negotiate.
🌙 Moon / Cancer:
Security matters. Your financial instincts may be strong, but so can emotional spending. Create financial systems that make you feel safe—and notice what you're buying when you're seeking comfort.
An emergency fund is your best calming ritual. Even a small one changes how secure you feel. Try a 48-hour pause before any purchase you make when you're tired, sad or stressed.
☿️ Mercury / Gemini or Virgo:
Your brain is your financial asset. Writing, teaching, selling, analysis, communication and problem-solving can all be money-makers. Are you monetizing what you know?
Package what you know into something people can buy: a workshop, a template, a consult, an e-book.
Look for a side hustle - chances are, you'll be able to find two sources of income.
♀️ Venus / Taurus or Libra:
Beauty, relationships and good taste can be assets. But don't confuse loving something with being able to afford it! Build financial stability around your appreciation for quality—and charge appropriately for your own talents.
Plan your pleasure spending. A "joy budget" means you can enjoy beautiful things without guilt or credit card debt. Check whether partnerships or collaborations are paying you fairly.
♂️ Mars / Aries:
You make money by taking action. Set financial goals, make the call, launch the project, negotiate the price. Just watch impulsive spending and unnecessary financial battles.
Turn that drive into a monthly money goal with a deadline. Practice negotiating out loud before the real conversation. Automate your savings so impulse can't spend them first.
♃ Jupiter / Sagittarius:
Think bigger. Jupiter brings a natural instinct for abundance, generosity and opportunity—but abundance isn't the same thing as spending freely. Give yourself room to grow while keeping an eye on the numbers.
Say yes to growth opportunities that come with a return, like courses, travel for work or expansion, and keep a cap on the ones that don't. Watch out for overcommitting and for "it'll work out" optimism with loans.
♄ Saturn / Capricorn:
Forget the abundance candles. 😉 Saturn wants a plan. Create the budget spreadsheet, pay down the debt, build the savings and figure out where you can save. Not very glamorous, I know—but it works.
Pick one long-term goal, like retirement, a house or a debt-free date, and work backwards. Saturn rewards slow, compounding habits, so time is your ally. Review your progress quarterly, not daily.
♅ Uranus / Aquarius:
Conventional income streams may not suit you. Look for innovative ways to earn, diversify your income or turn technology and new ideas into financial opportunities. Keep some financial flexibility, too: Uranus doesn't enjoy being trapped by a rigid budget.
Build a "freedom fund" so you can take sudden opportunities, or ride out sudden changes, without panic. Try a side income stream as an experiment before going all in.
♆ Neptune / Pisces:
Your imagination can be an asset. So can creativity, spirituality and the ability to sense what other people need. But Neptune needs financial boundaries. Know what you're earning and spending—and don't let wishful thinking do your bookkeeping.
Do a monthly "money reality check": open the statements, look at the numbers, no judgment. Get a second opinion before investing in anything that feels too good to be true. Put a value on intuitive or creative work instead of giving it away.
♇ Pluto / Scorpio:
Don't settle for a financial situation that isn't working. Look closely at your earning patterns: Are you undercharging? Staying in a job that's draining you? Giving away your skills for free? Pluto wants you to identify what's keeping you financially powerless—and change it.
Audit shared finances and debts, the 8th-house overlap. Pluto often pushes you to renegotiate who owns what. Small, deliberate changes beat dramatic all-or-nothing overhauls.

Your 2nd House isn't a financial prescription. It's a clue to the financial strengths you're naturally equipped to develop.
So whether Venus is retrograde or simply passing through your chart, take a moment to ask yourself:
