Aries Season: 6 Things to Try

In 2024, the Sun enters Aries on March 19 8:06 p.m. PDT, marking the Equinox. And a new astrological year begins.

As the first sign of the Zodiac,  Aries – and its ruler, Mars – is the quintessential yang energy.  A take-charge leader, a doer, a pursuer. “Fortune favours the brave” could have been written for Aries!

And so, as the Zodiac wheel turns yet again, here are a few ways to get the most of this season’s energy.

1 - Activate Your Vision Board

If you work with vision boards, then you might have put one together during  Sagittarius or Pisces Season (two best times of the year to work on a vision board ). But, it's never too late!

And now that Aries Season is here, activate it for some extra ooomph.  The Equinox is perfect for that.  Simply leave your vision board in the window and let it absorb the sun rays and charge with the energy of new beginnings, confidence, and “can-do” spirit.

Missed the Equinox? No problem! The New Moon on April 8 at 11:21 a.m. PDT is a powerful Solar Eclipse. Intentions set on a Solar Eclipse can bring your desires to you fast and in a grand fashion - as long as you're not afraid of some risk-taking! The wishes you send out to the Universe on an eclipse can materialize in an unexpected way.

Set the intention “So be it, so it is” – to help your dreams come into reality.  Keep your vision board somewhere you can see it on a regular basis. One of my clients uses hers as wallpaper on her phone.

2 - Understand Your Mars: Your Conflict Resolution Style, Your Competitiveness, and Your Angry Side

Mars - the ruler of Aries - is the warrior of the Zodiac.  Learn more about your natal Mars: your conflict resolution style, how you view competitiveness, how you assert yourself, and how you go after what you want.

Do you need to be more or less assertive? What does your natal Mars tell you about your propensity for anger or aggression? Remember, when we don't acknowledge our shadow traits, we can inadvertently attract people who will display them for us.

The sign and aspects of your natal Mars will offer you some excellent clues.  Mars in a Fire Sign (Aries, Leo or Sagittarius), in your 1st House, or making aspects to your natal Sun? Your tendency might be to tackle conflicts heads-on.  Mars in Pisces or Cancer, or making aspects to your natal Neptune? There may be a touch of passive-aggressiveness.  Mars in Scorpio or connected to your natal Pluto? Ohhh there could be some anger explosions. See Tip #5!

3 - Take a Leading Role and TAKE ACTION

Where in your life do YOU need to take a leading role, even if it’s not your style? Aries Season offers some great energies to take action and launch new projects. Be bold, be brave, be strong. Speak up! Channel your inner warrior.

✨ Be clear about what you’re asking the other person to do: "I'm feeling overwhelmed by cooking dinner every night after coming home from work. Could you choose two nights that you would be willing to take over dinner every week?"

✨Set boundaries: "I'm really sorry, but I won't be able to volunteer at school this year. I got a new position at work and am working much longer hours."

✨ Stand up for yourself without sounding too aggressive: “I appreciate your point of view. At the same time, I still feel my idea would work.”

Yes, you absolutely have it in you! We all have Mars in our natal charts 😊

4 - Connect with the Energy of New Beginnings

This one is for all the procrastinators out there. If you just can’t seem to get going, surround yourself with the energy of new beginnings.

Get yourself a potted spring plant, such as a tulip or daffodil, that is just in early stages of poking through the soil. Place it somewhere you can see it on a regular basis.  Spend a few minutes a day looking at it and absorbing the energy of new beginnings as your plant begins to grow. Feel its impetus to poke through the soil and grow taller toward the sky.

And then, start whatever you’ve been putting off before the bloom is off your plant.

As a side note, surrounding yourself with the energy (images or objects) that you want more of in your life is a well-known manifestation technique. What is interesting to me though, is how prevalent this idea is across cultures. It was expressed to me by my Chinese acupuncturist who never heard of manifesting.  It was conveyed to me by my Mom who doesn’t believe in the metaphysical.  There must be some ancient wisdom there that got rebranded as “manifestation” in this day and age. Try it  - you never know!

5 -  Try a Martial Arts Class

I always recommend this one to my female clients who have a combustible, violent Mars-Pluto square in their natal charts. Take a martial arts class: it will help you express your inner Mars. And heavens forbid you'll ever need to deal with an external manifestation of Mars-Pluto (a violent person in your life), at least you'll know self-defense!

And, if you feel like you could use MORE assertiveness, this will put you in touch with your Mars as well!

6 - Relocate or Go on a "Workation" by the Mars Line

OK, this one is based on my current astro-crush, astrology of relocation. Did you know that you can enhance certain energies in your natal chart - and through that, your experiences in life - by using astro-cartography (the art of relocating by the stars?)  If you feel like you need to work on your assertiveness, move closer to a Mars line. It will bring out your inner warrior.
