Eclipses in Taurus-Scorpio, 2021-2023: a New Cycle

First published 2021-11-13.

Heads-up! The eclipse season is coming up. The New Moon on April 19/20 2023 is also a powerful Solar Eclipse.

The nodal axis shifts this year into Aries-Libra, energizing matters related to war and peace, legislation, gender relations, international relationships, personal relationships, and the use of guns and weaponry.

But we'll still have two more eclipses in Taurus-Scorpio. There can still be more stock market turbulence, global food supply issues, and intensifying extreme weather patterns around the globe.

We had the first eclipse in the Taurus-Scorpio series on Nov. 19, at 27° Taurus, foreshadowing the themes that eclipses can forcefully propel into out awareness in 2022-2023.

Around the time of the November 2021 eclipse, there were extreme weather conditions in several parts of the world. Here in British Columbia, Canada, we had an unusually long stretch of very heavy rain, flooding many farms, leading to the closures of major transportation routes, and leaving British Columbia temporarily cut off from the rest of Canada. Panic buying ensued, as supply chain disruptions got worse for a period of time.

The stock market suffered a correction about 6 weeks after.

Well….those are exactly the themes eclipses in Taurus or Scorpio can bring!

Back to 2020-2021 for a Second:

In 2020-2021, the eclipses were primarily in Gemini/Sagittarius. It’s the axis that asks us to examine our beliefs, and so it can be deeply polarizing. And yes, we're all familiar with the COVID vax/anti-vax debate sweeping the globe.

Sagittarius eclipses in particular are notorious for rebellious, loud behaviors that can spread like a wild fire and lead to riots. “Just give me a cause to riot for!”, says a Sagittarius eclipse. And so, we had the Black Lives Matter riots, Indian Farmer protests, the anti-Asian racism movement – just to name a few. Diversity and inclusion has become a big and hugely politicized issue in the last couple of years – all of that happening while the eclipses were energizing Sagittarius and Gemini-related issues.

But now, we're moving into a very different territory.

Finances, Deep Healing, and Mother Nature

Eclipses tend to electrify. And when they happen in Taurus and Scorpio, this is where we can experience “shake-ups”:

Agriculture and Mother Earth:

Taurus eclipses, in particular, can bring earthquakes and volcanic activity - especially considering that Uranus is also in Taurus, half-way through its trek through the Sign of the Bull. Uranus is prominently positioned in 3 out of the 4 Taurus-Scorpio eclipses. Not to say there WILL be big natural disasters in 2022 – but if you’re in earthquake prone zone, make sure you’ve got an earthquake preparedness kit. Better safe than sorry!

Floods and extreme weather patterns are also a possibility, especially around the time Jupiter and Neptune come together in Pisces in April 2022.

Financial Sector and Resources

Yup, eclipses in Taurus and Scorpio can bring stock market volatility. We're already experiencing it, with the stock market correction.

The eclipse on November 8 2022 in particular will set off the final Saturn-Uranus square: the energy of instability and supply chain disruptions. It was the major planetary signature of 2021. In the first 6 months of 2022 we’re getting a bit of a break, but things can get worse in the fall of 2022 before they get better again.

There may be some agricultural shortages, brought on by extreme weather conditions or other factors (for example, the Russia-Ukraine situation limiting the supply of wheat).

Oil and gas prices rising? A different culprit there: the upcoming Neptune-Jupiter conjunction in Pisces, in April. When Jupiter is in Pisces, it can raise oil and gas prices. We'll likely get a reprieve in the summer of 2022, but as Jupiter re-enters Pisces on October 28 2022, high oil and gas prices can return and persist until January 2023.

There could also be some financial reforms. New ways of banking or investing, that come on the scene all of a sudden.

There can also be some shake-ups in the insurance industry, (including social security, pension funds, and other group funds).

One thing with eclipses is that they are “wild cards” in astrology. Things can swing one direction or another – and it’s difficult to predict which way!

Epidemics, Pandemics, Biological Weapons and the Nuclear Industry:

Now, Scorpio eclipses can also bring or end an epidemic or a pandemic. Perhaps COVID will be fully behind us by mid-2023. Traditionally though, Scorpio is about water-born or blood-transmitted diseases, so hopefully there won’t be anything new. Arghhh that's a truly depressing thought.

There can also be unexpected developments around biological weapons and the nuclear industry.

Personally, I will feel easier when the eclipses shift into Aries-Libra in 2023!

Emotional Healing, Resilience and Regeneration:

Last but not least, great breakthroughs can be made in deep emotional healing and regeneration. After all, Scorpio is the greatest healer of the Zodiac: it brings lasting transformation. Great breakthroughs can be made in deep emotional healing and regeneration under these eclipses as well.

Eclipses Open a Powerful Portal!

We’re all affected by an eclipse to a degree. If you find yourself edgier than usual, and your decision-making not as reliable, it’s because eclipses pack a powerful punch of de-stabilizing energy. In fact, common astrological wisdom is to avoid making any major decisions the week before and after an eclipse. New information might come to light after, that would change the course you’re on.

An eclipse season is a very powerful portal for those who are not afraid of some risk-taking. Quantum leaps are possible when intentions are set on a New Moon that is also a Solar Eclipse. But, the energies are also very unpredictable, and your desires may be fulfilled in an unexpected and turbulent way.

Releasing what doesn't serve you is a safe bet on an eclipse though.

What are the Impacts of an Eclipse on You, Personally?

So that’s how eclipses affect most of us. But, what happens when an eclipse directly connects with a personal planet or a sensitive point in your natal chart?

As I mentioned, eclipses are wild cards in astrology. They bring the unexpected.

Yes, I have seen some tragic events coming into people’s life when an eclipse falls onto a prominent planet or angle in their chart – but that’s rare. Usually, if something leaves your life under the eclipse energy, it’s the Universe’s way to redirect you on another path, that’s to your greatest good.

Sure, eclipses (especially Lunar eclipses) can close a chapter in your life, and it can feel shocking and uncomfortable.  But, they also open a portal to another, deeply transformative opportunity. If you ride the powerful wave of an eclipse, you can find yourself “travelling through time” – bringing your desired future to you much faster than you ever thought possible. This is particularly true for North Node eclipses.

To give you just a couple of examples:

Client #1:

This lovely, ambitious young man was thinking about the next step in his career, but was not quite ready to start sending out his resumes. Along comes an eclipse to his Sun. His  boss decided to retire sooner than anyone expected. My client was approached to apply for the newly available position. He ended up polishing his resume sooner than he thought!

Client #2:

For another client of mine, an eclipse fell onto her 5th House Sun. There was going to be a big, unexpected change in her children’s lives. Sure enough, one of her daughters got divorced that year – and unexpectedly found herself in another relationship! Her ex didn’t want kids, but the new guy did.  And, by the end of the year, she was pregnant. The family was just shaking their heads at how quickly the events were developing.

If you’ve been stuck somewhere in your life, an eclipse activating your chart can get you “unstuck”. But sure, it can be an uncomfortable process – change usually is!

Eclipses 2022 will be particularly impactful for:

  • Taurus b. April 21-25, April 29 -May 9, and May 14-18.
  • Scorpio b. Oct. 23-28, Nov. 1-11, and Nov. 16-20.

Or if your Moon, personal planets, and the angles (Ascendant, Descendant, IC/MC) are between 0-4°, 12-18,  or 23-27° Taurus or Scorpio.

Leo and Aquarius will also feel these eclipses, to a lesser degree.

Watch for events the week before and after the eclipse, because they can foreshadow how the eclipse is going to play out in your life. It takes 6-18 months for the eclipse energy to fully play out.

A Note for Scorpio and Taurus:

2022 brings some very big planetary energies for you. On top of the eclipses, many of you will also experience the destabilizing energy of the Saturn-Uranus square in the second half of the year.
