Pluto Turns Direct: Transformation and Personal Power

After 5 months in retrograde, Pluto - the planet of power, transformation, intensity, death and rebirth - turns direct on Oct. 13, 2025.

To be honest with you, I get a little apprehensive when Pluto is about to visit my natal chart. 

Yes, I know I will come out stronger than ever after its energy departs. But, I also know that a challenging Pluto transit will bring some major transformation, closing a door so completely that it’s cemented shut. 

And if it challenges your natal Sun or Moon, Pluto will not close it gently, either.  It will tear it to pieces first, like a blazing volcano explosion. Whatever was behind that door is either gone, or transformed beyond recognition.  And me? Hopefully I’m still in one piece.

Positive transits, such as a trine or a sextile, will connect you with your personal power in a much gentler manner. They are something to look forward to.

Pluto moves so slowly that it will only visit us a handful of times in an average lifespan.  And, it always leaves a gift – greater resilience, greater compassion, and a greater understanding of such big issues as life, death and rebirth.  Greater personal power – or greater understanding of power issues in your life.  Think phoenix rising from the ashes.

Several years ago, a new client ordered a reading. She was going through a very difficult emotional experience…she found out that her husband was having an affair. She was devastated and wanted to know what the future of her relationship was.

I checked her natal chart and cringed. Pluto was powerfully squaring both her natal Sun and Venus. She was meant to go through a loss at this point in her life. One chapter closing, another opening. I could also see powerfully healing energies visiting her life after.

Obviously, she didn’t want to hear that she was going to lose her husband. She didn’t reply to my reading – until 6 months later.

Her husband had left her for the other woman -  and was diagnosed with terminal cancer a couple of months after. His new relationship turned out too fragile to survive this experience. My client took him back for his final few months, because she didn’t want him to die alone in a hospital. She took him to chemo. She was there through those final, difficult days.

I don’t mind telling you – I cried when I read her email. And I was in absolute awe of the beauty of her spirit, of her compassion and her light.

That’s what Pluto does. Yes, we can be maimed by its smoldering fire if we let it. Or, we can be transformed into our highest potential: into an incredibly strong being filled with light. When it visits our natal chart, Pluto invites us (and sometimes pushes us) to connect with the deepest reserves of our personal power - that we might not even know we had! 

Tips for Working with Pluto Transits: 

Over the years of doing astrology readings, I've accumulated a few tips on how to make the most of a Pluto transit:

• Connect with your own personal power
• If your work involves transformation or change management, it could be a great period!
• Build a support network around you (just in case...)
• Volunteer for a crisis center (it's a good way to re-direct the crisis energy of Pluto).
• Enroll into a psychology class or workshop (Pluto transits are amazing for deep breakthroughs!)
• Work with an experienced coach

Who is Affected by Pluto Energies In the Next 6 Months?

Pluto will travel through 1-5° Aquarius between October 2025 and May 2026 (it moves soooo slowly). 

You will feel the effects if you have personal planets or Angles (Ascendant, Descendant, MC or IC) between:

• 0-8° Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio
  • Pluto will be forming a challenging aspect to your natal chart (a conjunction, square or opposition).  Its energy may feel more challenging to integrate. 
    
    
• 0-8° Gemini and Libra, and 0-7° Sagittarius and Aries.
  • Pluto will be forming a supportive aspect to your natal chart (a trine or a sextile), and this transit can be quite empowering, beneficial and possibly even life-transforming. 

Note:   In October 2025, Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini are still aligned in a trine. 

In personal astrology,  the Uranus-Pluto trine is a powerhouse of a transit to your natal chart.  If you see your birthday mentioned below, you should definitely pay attention to it. You will have a very powerful energy of change visiting you over the next 12 months. Big breakthroughs are possible: 

• January 11-26
• May 19–28
• July 21-29
• October 21–28

The same applies if you have planets or angles (Ascendant, Descendant, IC or MC) between 29° Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo and 6° Aquarius, Gemini and Libra.

If you’re lucky to experience a positive Pluto transit to your Venus, it can bring an amazing, intense relationship where you just can’t be without one another. After all, Pluto is also about intensity bordering on obsession.  

Pluto forming a trine or sextile to your natal Mars will give a huge boost to your drive and stamina. What a fantastic time to accomplish an intensive project in your life.  

Regardless, when the Pluto transit is over, a part of you or your life can be changed forever. Pluto also is about endings…
