Astrology Forecast for March 2026
All dates are for Pacific to Eastern time.
March overlays Mercury Retrograde with Eclipse Season, making this a month for course corrections rather than bold new starts.
The good news? Mercury goes direct on March 20, launching the annual period when all planets move forward—a rare cosmic green light lasting until May 6.
Use the first three weeks of the month to reflect and refine, then step into action.
As always, this post is about the big picture of the month + I provide a quick synopsis of each week. You can find my detailed weekly forecasts here, published every Thursday.
Why So Many Cautions for This Month?
Let's get this one out of the way first. They represent the eclipse season (lasting until March 10) + Mercury Retrograde + a few challenging aspects the planets make throughout the month.
March opens with a Lunar Eclipse on March 3. Common astrological wisdom is to avoid making major decisions the week before and after an eclipse - new information might come to light after, that would change the course you're on.
And, Mercury is retrograde until March 20. Be on guard for pesky Mercury Rx mishaps, such as miscommunication, technology glitches, and cancelled or rescheduled appointments.
But, we won't be out of the woods yet when Mercury turns direct. Technology and travel glitches and miscommunication tend to peak a couple of days before and after Mercury changes direction, so be on guard until March 23.
For the first 3 weeks of March, the astro-weather is much more conducive to all things "re":
- replan
- re-negotiate (ooh! there are some excellent dates for that! details below)
- recharge
- reconnect
- repair.
Take a deep breath, stay patient, and remember that this, too, shall pass!
⚠️ March Cautions at a Glance: Quick Reference
Bookmark this list for easy reference throughout the month. For the full context and how to work with these energies, read the detailed weekly breakdowns below.
Eclipse Season:
- Lasts until March 10: Avoid major decisions during the eclipse window.
Mercury Retrograde:
- Through March 20: Mercury Retrograde—be on guard for miscommunication, technology glitches, and travel delays
- March 20–23: Mercury is repositioning and moving very slowly. Mercury Rx-related mishaps are still possible.
Challenging Aspects:
- March 16–18: Balsamic Moon + Venus square Jupiter—avoid new relationships, financial investments, or big purchases (over-optimism)
- March 21-22: Sun-Neptune conjunction—lowered vitality, heightened sensitivity to substances
- March 24–25: Sun-Saturn conjunction—don't fight bosses or authority figures; it will be difficult to win.
Eclipse Season:
If you want to understand where some of the biggest global shifts will land, watch the eclipses. They're astrology's wild cards — and they rarely miss.
I've been tracking eclipses for years, and the sign they fall in (and the planets they touch) consistently reveal where new developments, shocks, and turning points are about to unfold. These patterns show up on the world stage and in our personal lives when an eclipse activates our natal chart.
A quick recap of the eclipse season so far:
In February, we had the first eclipse along the Aquarius-Leo axis - the axis the Lunar Nodes will be moving to in July. And, true to form, it already brought the shake-ups to the royals: Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arrested. BTW, the February eclipse fell onto his natal Sun.
And one of Trump's signature policies - tariffs - got a stunning rebuke from the Supreme Court. The same very eclipse fell onto Trump's Descendant - being openly challenged. (The 7th House rules relationships AND open adversaries).
Not to mention that the eclipses continue through the 3rd and 9th Houses of the national chart of the USA, which deals with law cases and legal decisions that end up in the news, shocks to the academic institutions (experienced in 2025), and country borders and commerce.
So do you believe me now? That eclipses are a great predictor of the unexpected or news-worthy developments? If interested to learn more, my mini-course "Eclipses for the Savvy Seeker" is for you.
What's coming up:
But, the Lunar Eclipse on March 3 is still along the Pisces-Virgo axis, shaking up matters related to drugs, healthcare and more. How's that for unrest and violence in Mexico, following the killing of a powerful cartel leader?
Like I said, eclipses rarely miss.
The upcoming eclipse will be impactful for you personally if your birthday is on:
- February 27 - March 8
- May 29 - June 8 (to a lesser degree)
- August 31- Sept. 9
- November 30 - Dec. 9 (to a lesser degree)
Or if you have planets or angles (Ascendant, Descendant, MC or IC) between:
- 7-17° Pisces
- 7-17° Gemini (to a lesser degree)
- 7-17° Virgo
- 7-17° Sagittarius (to a lesser degree)
Jupiter Turns Direct: March 10
Jupiter, the planet of expansion and opportunities, is stationed for the entire month at 15° Cancer. And Jupiter stations are something to get excited about!
Why Jupiter stations matter:
- When Jupiter connects with your natal Sun, it brings opportunities—but this energy typically dissipates fast
- So here is a useful astro-hack for you: When Jupiter slows down before changing direction, it stays at the same degree for an unusually long time. This happens twice a year.
- If Jupiter stations close to your personal planets or angles, you get an extended period of opportunities instead of a relatively brief window.
Jupiter will be stationed at 15° Cancer between Feb. 16 and April 5.
You're the lucky recipient of this extended opportunity period if you have planets or angles (Ascendant, Descendant, MC or IC) between 13-20° of:
- Cancer
- Scorpio
- Pisces
- Capricorn
- Aries
- Libra
OK, let's take a quick look at each week, to help you plan your month ahead.
March 1-8:
While March starts on a tense note - with a Lunar Eclipse in Virgo, on March 3 - this entire week is fantastic for rewriting old stories that no longer serve you, and for creative or spiritual pursuits. Four planets are in Pisces until Friday March 6, and it's a lot of healing energy,
Speaking about healing - you wouldn't think eclipses are healing, right? Their supercharged energy can be quite tense. But this eclipse is opposite a Pisces stellium: the Sun, Venus, Mars and Mercury Retrograde + the North Node are all in Pisces.
If you work with the energy of this Lunar Eclipse, you could start breaking down the impostor syndrome or that inner critic (and we all have one). You know, the one whose nagging voice wants to keep you small, telling you that you're not good enough? So much perfectionistic Virgo energy in this statement!
How to work with the Lunar Eclipse energy, you might be asking? A blog post won't do this topic justice, but my recorded webinar will give you the tools you need.
Do some inner work early in the week. Avoid making major decisions if you can.
The weekend calls for an honest look at the key relationships in your life. And, if you've been working on a contract or a negotiation, Sunday is an excellent day to revisit the sticking points. You could make some good progress.
March 9-15:
This week, Jupiter turns direct on March 10. Just one planet left in retrograde - Mercury. We're just 10 days away until the lovely annual stretch when all planets are direct. It makes it much easier to get your undertakings off the ground.
And, the week starts with a Venus-Pluto sextile. If you're single, don't spend Monday sitting at home! Your soulmate is out there, and your chances of meeting them are increased.
March 16-22:
The week opens up with a Balsamic Moon, inauspicious for new beginnings. Do something that replenishes you. And if you can't sit still, declutter!
Clean your Inbox, donate old clothes you no longer wear, and while you're at it, throw out that candleholder your ex-mother-in-law gave you, that forever reminds you of your difficult marriage. Why are you carrying this energetic residue around?
Word of caution: March 16-18 are not the best for starting a new relationship or financial investments. As I mentioned, the Moon is Balsamic, but also, Venus is square Jupiter - a classic aspect of over-optimism. If you're a big spender, don't go shopping either. You'll be tempted to overspend.
And then, get ready for the New Moon in Pisces, on March 18 at 6:23 p.m. PDT. Set intentions for what you want to attract into your life. Think of it as a request you're sending to the Universe - but it's also a good way to focus your own energy toward your goals, too.
The Moon is void of course until 9:03 p.m. PDT, so you want to save your intention setting until then - or until the following morning. It will still work.
On Friday March 20, Mercury comes out of retrograde, but before you say hallelujah, keep in mind that a lot of Mercury Rx mishaps happen right before and after it changes direction, so stay on guard until March 23.
Also on March 20, the Sun enters Aries. Happy Birthday to my Aries readers! And, Happy Equinox.
On March 21, Mars trines Jupiter. It's a lovely energy for career and business matters, but keep in mind that Mercury is still moving very slowly in the skies. Proofread all important communication and documents.
On Sunday March 22, the Sun makes its annualconjunction with Neptune. This is fantastic for spiritual or creative pursuits. But, vitality can be lowered. And, sensitivity to drugs and alcohol can be heightened. Don't overdo.
March 23-31:
This week, the Sun meets Saturn in Aries, re-activating the Sun-Neptune conjunction. And, the Saturn-Pluto sextile peaks yet one more time.
We've been feeling for a while that the world is on the threshold of societal change. They are still in flux - we know the current world order is changing, but what is replacing it? This week, there may be decisions or actions that will give us important clues.
In your personal lives, don't fight with your boss or other authority figures in your life early to mid-week. It will be difficult to win.
Instead, take advantage of a healing Venus-Chiron conjunction on Thursday March 26. Deep healing of romantic disappointments or of negative body image are possible now. It's a great day for journaling or freely expressing your feelings. And it's your celestial reminder that you're worthy. And that you're beautiful.
Monday March 30 is the best day of the month to make healthy changes to your routine or your diet.
The month ends up with Venus entering sensuous Taurus, but more on that in the April forecast!
So there you have it! Have a wonderful March.
