October is one of the nicest months of 2025.  Pluto turns direct, Neptune retrogrades into Pisces and....drumroll....we have Grand Trines galore in the skies! 

As always, this post is about the big picture of the month + I provide a quick synopsis of each week. You can find my detailed weekly forecasts here, published every Thursday.

Now, About Those Grand Trines...

The more trines, the more harmony the stars promise - in world affairs but also for initiating specific undertakings - and this month, it's love, career/business, and communication activities.  Contracts, negotiations, and e-commerce launches all get a boost on specific dates through the month.  (see "Best Dates for...")

Humour me as I astro-geek out for a second... a Grand Trine is when three trines combine into one big cosmic love-in. Three or more planets all align in a harmonious energy flow, positively reinforcing one another. And we have multiple Grand Trines in the skies this month! 

Grand Trine in Air:

In October,  Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini are still aligned in a trine in Air signs. 

Venus moves into Libra on October 13 - and now there is a Grand Trine in Air!   Pluto, Uranus and Venus all get along fabulously.  We have a couple of GREAT days for love and money winking at us from the skies.

In personal astrology,  the Uranus-Pluto trine is a powerhouse of a transit to your natal chart.  If you see your birthday mentioned below, you should definitely pay attention to it. You will have a very powerful energy of change visiting you over the next 12 months. Big breakthroughs are possible: 

• January 11-26
• May 19–28
• July 21-29
• October 21–28

The same applies if you have planets or angles (Ascendant, Descendant, IC or MC) between 29° Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo and 6° Aquarius, Gemini and Libra.

Grand Trine in Water:

Not to be outdone,  Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn - now back in Pisces - start aligning in a trine as well! It will peak in November. 

If you see your birthday listed below, this trine is great news for you:  opportunities that come now have every chance to bring long-term results.  You need to seize them and put some effort in though.

• March 12-18
• July 14-20
• November 14-20.

Same applies if you have planets or angles (Ascendant, Descendant, IC or MC) between 22-27° Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.

In late October, Mercury and Mars in Scorpio join the party and....there is another Grand Trine! In Water this time.  And this one is amazing for negotiations, presentations, business-related matters, and all things communication.

Pluto Turns Direct:

Pluto’s stations direct at 1° Aquarius on October 13.  And when a planet stations, about to change direction, it’s time to consider how its key energies are playing out in our life.

Neptune Retrogrades Back into Pisces:

Neptune follows in Saturn's footsteps and retrogrades into Pisces on October 22.This is its final visit before it leaves the sign for good in January 2026.

Expect themes around spirituality, illusion, escapism, and compassion to resurface — especially if you’ve been avoiding something that needs closure.

If you have planets between 24–30° Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, or Sagittarius, this is a time to revisit dreams, creative projects, or emotional patterns that need resolution.  Neptune (dreams) and Saturn (bringing dreams into reality) BOTH are activating your natal chart.  They are close to one another in the skies. How cool is that. 

And, just in case - Saturn and Neptune in combination can bring a major reality check.  But, once illusions and untruths fall away, you will be able to create something truly beautiful if you work with the energy of the Saturn-Neptune conjunction.

OK, let's take a deeper dive into October's energies:

October 1 - 12:  Relationships in Focus

October kicks off with a bang. Mercury squares Jupiter on Oct. 1 — watch for overpromising or information overload.

Then, on Oct. 6, Mercury enters Scorpio, sharpening our minds and tongues. This is a great time for research, deep conversations, and uncovering hidden truths.

And! The Full Moon in Aries arrives on Oct. 6 at 9:47 a.m. PDT. It’s bold, fiery, and emotionally raw. Aries Full Moons are all about independence, courage, and taking initiative — but this one also asks: are you honoring your own needs in relationships?

If you’ve been biting your tongue or playing small, this Full Moon could push you to speak up. Just be mindful of tone — Mercury in Scorpio can sting!

October 15–21: Mercury-Mars Conjunction + New Moon in Libra

Mercury conjuncts Mars on Oct. 20 — words can be weapons or tools for action. Use them wisely. This transit is great for assertive communication, but tempers can flare. If you need to have a tough conversation, prepare your points and stay calm.

Then, on Oct. 21 at 3:55 p.m. PDT, we get a New Moon in Libra. This lunation is square both Jupiter and Pluto — so while it’s a fresh start for relationships, diplomacy, and balance, it comes with a caution: don’t overpromise or manipulate to get your way

If your birthday falls between October 20–24, April 18–22, July 20–24, or January 18–22, this New Moon could be a catalyst for redefining how you relate to others

October 22–31: Neptune Re-Enters Pisces + Grand Trines Galore

On Oct. 22, Neptune retrogrades back into Pisces — its final visit before leaving the sign for good in January 2026. This is a time to revisit dreams, creative projects, or emotional patterns that need closure. If you’ve been avoiding something, it may resurface now.

Also on Oct. 22, the Sun enters Scorpio. Happy Birthday to my Scorpio readers! And guess what — there’s a Grand Trine in the skies!

Mercury trines Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune between Oct. 24–29, and Mars trines Jupiter and Saturn. These are excellent aspects for long-term planning, deep conversations, and intuitive insights. If your birthday is Oct. 22–29, this energy gets locked into your Solar Return chart. Expect a year of emotional depth and strategic growth.

But! Mercury also opposes Uranus on Oct. 29 — expect surprises in communication, tech, or travel. Stay flexible.

Cautions This Month: 

🚫 Oct. 1:  Mercury square Jupiter

Great for big picture thinking, but don't put your ideas in action just yet.  Projects started under a Mercury-Jupiter square can overpromise and under-deliver.  Jot down your ideas and revaluate them for feasibility at a later time.

Be careful of sales pitches mid-week. If the offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

🚫 Oct. 6-7:   Mercury square Pluto

Ill-chosen words can be particularly cutting today.  Plus, October 6 is the Full Moon, so emotions can be super-charged.  Choose kindness.

🚫 Oct. 23-24: the Sun square Pluto

Power struggles are possible.  Stay away from people with oversized egos. NOT a good day for pitching something big to your boss.
