Saturn in Aries
On May 24, 2025, Saturn enters Aries, initiating a new 29-year cycle.
It always amazes me how the news headlines reflect what is going on astrologically. I'm sure you've noticed "a new world order" mentioned in the media in the past couple of months, over and over. It's not just because of Saturn entering Aries though. 2025 is a beginning of a huge energy shift! Three slow-moving outer planets - Saturn, Uranus and Neptune - ALL temporarily change signs.
This shift has already started, with Neptune moving into Aries just 6 weeks before Saturn, on March 30, 2025.
Neptune and Saturn will flirt with Aries for a few months this year, and then retrograde into Pisces for a final visit.
First, the Dates:
This is what Saturn is up to:
- March 7 2023 - May 24 2025: Pisces
- May 24 - Sept. 1 2025: Aries
- Sept. 1 2025 - Feb. 14, 2026: Pisces
- Feb. 14, 2026 - April 13, 2028: Aries
Saturn and Aries - and let's not forget Neptune!
Saturn, the taskmaster, tends to whip into shape matters governed by the sign it moves into. It can restrict growth and throw obstacles in our way. But ultimately, if we accept what it's trying to teach us, Saturn can refine and reshape what it touches, so it becomes stronger and can serve us well for a great number of years. Saturn is not about trends and gimmicks. It's about durability, longevity and quality.
But here is the thing. For 6 years (2023-2028) Saturn and Neptune are roommates, sharing the same sign, first Pisces and then Aries. So it's not just the affairs of the sign Saturn is visiting. In 2023-2028, Saturn's job is also to counter-balance Neptune. Neptune's ideas are noble but they can be lofty, and not always pragmatic. But, together, Neptune and Saturn make a very powerful combo! I share my thoughts on the Saturn-Neptune interplay and Neptune in Aries in my post here.
Considering Saturn is about discipline and the long-term game, it's not comfortable in Aries, the sign that wants to move fast and to do it NOW.
Remember, Aries is a warrior sign. Aries energy comes in guns blazing, charging ahead. "Ask for forgiveness rather than permission" and "Fortune favours the bold" could have been written for Aries. At its highest expression, the Aries energy boldly forges the path to the new world. And at its lowest, it bulldozes it, destroying carefully built (eco)systems in its wake.
And Neptune, already in Aries, is egging it on: That vision you have? Who cares that the details are not ironed out just yet? Act NOW! Neptune is all about having a dream, that vision of the future that is not yet in full focus, and yet, and yet...it has that magnetic pull...Neptunian energy can be seductive.
You see a problem here? Jumping into action before you have a solid plan can lead to recommunication, re-work, and backtracking. On the global scene. At work. In your personal life. I've worked with enough Aries leaders through my professional career!
That's why Saturn in Aries can be about "stop-and-go". We jump into action prematurely, and have to stop and/or rework what we've done.
So this new world? With Saturn and Neptune both in Aries, the world can start getting rewired at a dizzying speed at first, and with great force. But, it's not going to be a smooth process. Chances are, there will be many starts and stops.
Saturn and Neptune: When the Opposites Can Lead to Something Great
This new beginning I'm talking about? This time, it's a massive new beginning. Saturn and Neptune will form a conjunction at 0° Aries in February 2026, but they will stay close to one another throughout 2025, forming a near-conjunction (within 1 deg.) from mid-June to mid-July.
We will start feeling this energy around April or May 2025 and it will get progressively more amplified in the summer, but the conjunction won't be exact until Feb. 20, 2026.
0° Aries - the Aries Point - is a hugely important area of the Zodiac, the "reset" degree. And the Saturn-Neptune conjunction is a manifestor energy. It helps bring a vision or an idea (Neptune) into the physical realm (Saturn). It's a powerful combo!
Every energy has a high and low manifestation. For Neptune, the planet of compassion and philanthropy, this vision can be something truly beautiful. It can be a dream - but it can also be a nightmare.
Remember, collectively and individually, we have a lot of say about the way a celestial energy is going to play out. We CHOOSE.
Saturn and Neptune will stay roommates, this time in Aries, until 2028. During that time, they will be shaping and re-shaping such themes as:
- Leaders and leadership
- Personal agency (=what are YOU responsible for?)
- Wars and the military (hopefully the end of the Russia-Ukraine conflict - movement toward peace is likely in 2025, but may not fully come together until 2026) 🙏🏼
- Entrepreneurship
- Courage
- Competitiveness
- Conception and birth rates, and fertility (esp. male fertility).
- Inflation - Neptune in Aries is associated with a ramp-up in inflation, but Saturn should keep it in check while it's in Aries.
The reshaping process, as mentioned, can be stop-and-go, but, when it happens, it won't be about incremental change. The Aries Point where the change is being birthed is about a big, qualitative shift.
We're already seeing it now, with world alliances starting to shift, new trade blocs being formed, and USD as the world's reserve currency starting to experience some tremors.
The world is being reshaped.
Saturn in Aries: Aspects
Sure, 2025 has been off to a rocky start so far. Yes, there is a new world order trying to emerge, responding to the Aries energy we're already feeling: bold and often verging on aggressive.
But, Saturn (and Neptune) will make some very positive aspects with the other planets in 2025-2026, and that's good news! When the outer planets get along, things tend to flow smoother and a lot of progress can be made.
Between now and into late 2026, Saturn and Neptune will make harmonious sextiles with Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus, once it enters Gemini. This configuration of the outer planets, sometimes referred to as a minor triangle, is rare. It blends the drive for transformation (Pluto), innovation (Uranus), and the ability to bring vision into reality (Saturn-Neptune).
Later, in June 2027, Saturn will trine Jupiter in Leo, adding expansion and optimism.
But, before this happens, Jupiter will make one last square to Saturn, next month - on June 15 2025, at 1° Aries (Saturn + Neptune ) and 1° Cancer (Jupiter). It's a conflicted energy of over-optimism that gets corrected (note the stock market underwent a slight correction during the last two squares, in August and December 2024).
But, once that hurdle is behind us, we're going to experience a great line-up of supportive energy.
What Does It All Mean for You?
Aries is about personal agency! As astrologers say, the stars impel but they don’t compel. We all have free will. The trick is to be aware of the energies heading our way. Each planetary energy has its high manifestation – the best that can happen. And it has its low manifestation – the worst that can happen.
Check the House (areas of your life) that is in Aries in your natal chart. That's where you have the opportunity to bring a dream into reality, between now and early 2026. Remember, Saturn and Neptune together are a magical manifestor conjunction.
Be intentional and discerning though about WHAT you're manifesting. Neptune can be pure bliss, but it can also represent our subconscious fears. Go for the highest manifestation, the highest outcome.
If you have personal planets or Angles (Ascendant, Descendant, IC or MC) in the following signs, the upcoming Saturn-Neptune conjunction 2025-20206 will be particularly impactful for you personally:
- 28° Pisces - 5° Aries (conjunction)
- 28° Gemini - 5° Cancer (square)
- 28° Cancer - 5° Leo (trine)
- 28° Virgo - 5° Libra (opposition)
- 28° Scorpio - 5° Sagittarius (trine)
- 28° Sagittarius - 5° Capricorn (square)
If this is you, this is a good year to get a reading.
